Hydroelectric Power Plant Porąbka-Żar
The Water Fuel Museum in ZEW Porąbka-Żar in Międzybrodzie Bialskie offers sightseeing opportunities in the unique Hydroelectric Plant Porąbka-Żar – the first in Poland and the third in Europe underground pumped-storage hydroelectricity reservoir.
The museum was opened on 29th September, 2006. The most significant exhibits include: hydraulic and mechanical turbine regulator and synchronous generator from 1933 as well as hydraulic rotation regulators of FRANCIS and KAPLAN turbine from 1952. Visitors may see the most important plant facilities from all over the world (for example - turbine rotors from Japan). In addition, on top of the Żar Mountain tourists can admire an artificial water reservoir.
